Your journey begins early with a shared shuttle transfer from Johannesburg (approximately 6:30 am) to the Kruger region — a scenic 5 to 6-hour drive through Mpumalanga’s countryside. Arrive at your budget safari lodge near Kruger in time for check-in and a quick rest. Later, head out for your first open vehicle safari in the late afternoon for about 3 hours. Explore Kruger’s iconic landscapes during the golden hour when animals are active and the bush is alive. With luck, you’ll spot elephants, giraffes, buffalos, and perhaps even lions as the sun begins to set.
